...I love constructing formal proofs using a first order language and predicate calculus. Deducing that a statement is true as a consequence of the rules of inference applied to a set of axioms is most entertaining. I doubt most students go beyond truth tables and naive set theory, but I can help them out with those as well. (read more)
...While I completely feel the frustration of struggling with a new thing, I love changing people's minds. Subjects are skill sets just like any others, and it's ok to struggle while you become better at them! But given time and effort, there's few things more satisfying than watching a student become more confident. (read more)
...My technique for tutoring is to try to help people understand why things work the way they do. Often, people struggle with subjects when they try to memorize rather than understand the underlying ideas behind a subject. This makes the class get harder as the year goes on since topics typically stack on one another. (read more)
