...I have found that often the instruction given in the classroom is simply the mechanics of how to do it since the bigger picture is obvious to the instructor. In calculus especially, the students whom I tutor have a greater understanding when I explain how calculus works in a broad sense. Then, we can hash out the details of how to do it. (read more)
