...While at Caltech, I also volunteered with FIRST Robotics Competition, as an event volunteer and as a mentor of FRC Team 4201 in El Segundo, CA. In this role I worked with and taught high school age students on topics ranging from CAD to physics to project management. This included an emphasis on statics and understanding how physics concepts interacted with mechanical design. (read more)
Hector is a current medical student at UTSW. Prior to medical school, Hector conducted a research year at UCSF where he structurally characterized the interactions between a resistance protein and novel antibiotics to overcome resistance. ...I find some learners who are not auditory will not absorb lectures well. With others it relates to a fundamental issue with how the individual approaches the discipline and a concept that he/she cannot excel. Whatever the reason, I will shift the way I teach back the subject and try to make it dynamic, fun and something the student can absorb. (read more)
