...I retired from developmental optometry in 2011 and I started tutoring shortly thereafter. When my student asks, "Why is trigonometry important?" I can answer that trigonometry is used to calculate the path of a light ray as it is refracted. Trigonometry explains why the bottom of a swimming pool appears closer than it really is. (read more)

...I got to put my desire for one-on-one teaching to use when I began teaching my own children how to read and then later expanded to the other subjects. As the kids got older, I invited other homeschooling students to our house to join us for a science lesson twice a week.
