I am a Ph.D. student at Virginia Tech in materials science and engineering researching 3D printing of metals. I graduated with a B.S. in materials science and engineering in May 2022 and have lots of experience in tutoring STEM topics to students from middle school to college level. Hi, I’m Hajar, a Mechanical Engineering student at Virginia Tech, and I’ve been tutoring for over 3 years. I started in my second semester, helping fellow undergraduates, and later worked at the university’s Tutoring Center, providing both walk-in and one-on-one support. ...I've tutored a high schooler student in Geometry and then Algebra 2, our lessons lasted for 2 years and we met up once a week in person. The next student I taught was a 2nd grader and I helped him with reading and writing as well as second grade math. We met up twice a week in a combination of online and in person meetings and went over his previous homework or spelling questions. (read more)
...I've also helped with test prep (such as the SAT and AP exams). From a more artistic standpoint, I'm quite passionate about crochet- I would love to help someone get started with that too! ...When that is understood, I provide example problems or help them with their homework problems. After that, I check in with them and see if their understanding improved and if they would like an more questions answered. I would apply these method of tutoring to my student I previously tutored at PVCC as well as the National Honors Society in high school. (read more)
