...The understanding of Limits leading up to the definition of the derivative are critical to understand the basics of the Calculus. Later using derivatives to solve word problems including rates and some analytical geometry. Integral Calculus comes later using that to calculate areas and solve problems involving Newtonian physics. (read more)
