...I hold a Master's in Applied Math from Johns Hopkins with a concentration in mathematical statistics. I developed an online course in Discrete Math for Excelsior College. Also, I've taught Finite Math several times in 2011 at Seminole State College. (read more)
...Examples include integers, graphs, sets, and sequences. I took a series of classes at Caltech in discrete math, which were some of the best classes I had there because they covered such a range of topics, including logic, combinatorics, and number theory. These topics permeate many of the subjects I've tutored. (read more)
...I have found that the majority of students struggle with specific concepts or subjects because of the way they are taught by their teachers or professors. As a result, my priority is to diagnose the best way that you learn so that moving forward, you may progress faster and more efficiently. As a... (read more)
...I took courses in both statistics and test and measurement theory as an undergrad at Brandeis University and continued with more statistics coursework as a grad student at the University of Pennsylvania. For my dissertation I researched statistical and probabilistic models of medical diagnosis. More recently I've been using biostatistics to help build mobile preventive health apps. (read more)
...I find the most impactful way to help students and improve their ability is taking them from a complete memorization approach to a more intuitive way of solving problems. I like to employ ways of checking if the steps you made for a problem make sense. I am in the business of simplifying the math so in the future you can apply the skills you learn to any mathematics class. (read more)
