At Clemson I took a Study Skills class in order to become a better tutor, especially for students with learning disabilities who may need a more strict set of study skills. (read more)
...The most common question I hear is, "Why are we learning this?" or "Why is this useful?". I've found most of my students learn the material better if you give them an application for it. Its not tested though so standard schooling tends to gloss over topics like this in favor of time but I feel like it is nearly as important as the material itself. (read more)
...If one way of looking at a concept isn’t clicking, I try out different angles until we find the one that does. Everyone’s mind and way of seeing the world is unique, and I enjoy connecting with my students and adapting to those differences.
