...One is to make the idea more concrete and less abstract. A student may not understand why 0.3 is greater than 0.25, but they know why three dimes are worth more than two dimes and a nickel. ...The best way to teach students, in my opinion is through one on one intervention, no matter how skilled a student may be. My approach to teaching/tutoring is to model how I solve an example problem, including my though process. Essentially, I show the brain how to think it through. (read more)
